Disorderly demonstration against military conscription defaces Kindergarten in German Parliament
In the heart of Berlin, a peaceful protest against conscription took an unexpected turn on Tuesday evening. Three young men, aged 17, 19, and 20, were seen holding cardboard signs in front of the parliamentary kindergarten, voicing their opposition to conscription.
However, the demonstration took a more controversial turn when the building north of the Paul-LΓΆbe-House was splashed with red vegetable juice. The investigation is now being conducted as criminal mischief with a political motive by the Berlin State Criminal Police Office.
Despite the vandalism, the operation of the parliamentary kindergarten was not disrupted. A swift response from a cleaning company ensured that the red vegetable juice was promptly removed from the facade and the sidewalk of the kindergarten.
Authorities are currently trying to determine if any of the protesters were involved in the vandalism. However, the identities of those who splashed the building remain undisclosed at this time. An administrative offense procedure for the unannounced assembly has been initiated.
A slogan critical of conscription was left behind after the protest, further fuelling speculation about the protesters' intentions. As the investigation continues, the city of Berlin awaits answers regarding this unexpected turn of events.
