Disney's timeless hit Hercules makes a comeback, undergoing a Broadway-themed reinvention.
The Disney Destiny, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line, is set to offer an exciting new experience for passengers with its Broadway-style reimagining of the classic animated film, Disney Hercules.
The live theatrical adaptation of Disney Hercules will debut in November 2023, featuring live vocals, aerial stunts, and jaw-dropping visuals. Award-winning puppetry will bring mythological creatures like the Hydra to life on stage.
Brothers Kevin and Marcel Wilson, with professional experience in stage and screen, including The Lion King on Broadway and So You Think You Can Dance, are directing and choreographing the production. However, the direction and choreography credit goes to Casey Nicholaw, who is also involved in the production. David Zippel, known for his work in musical theatre, is likely to be involved as a lyricist or writer.
Broadway performer Corey J. Bradford stars as Hercules, making him the production's Black lead. The Muses, who serve as narrators, will be dressed in high-fashion looks.
Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director of Disney Hercules, stated that the ship offers opportunities for everyone to enjoy themselves. The Disney Destiny, themed around "Heroes and Villains", features a Black Panther-inspired Grand Hall and a De Vil-themed piano lounge, in addition to other entertainment options for all ages.
