The "Arche Project Fire Salamander," a significant part of the LARS project, is set to captivate visitors at the Wuppertal Zoo this weekend. This project, spearheaded by the Zoological Research Institute and Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn, aims to study, medically treat, breed, and release Fire Salamanders into safe habitats along the Wupper.

The Fire Salamander, a local amphibian species, is currently under threat from the Bsal fungus, a dangerous skin fungus that poses a significant health risk. The LARS project, a collaboration with NABU, BUND, Bergische University Wuppertal, and Kalkwerke Oetelshofen, is dedicated to protecting these vulnerable creatures.

Visitors can expect a variety of engaging activities designed to educate and inform. Various info booths will be offering craft activities, face painting, a button machine, and a lucky wheel. Tickets for guided tours can be purchased at the info booth of the Wuppertal Zoo Association starting from 10:00.

These guided tours will provide a unique opportunity to explore the terrarium focusing on salamanders and amphibians at specific times throughout the day (10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:00, 14:45). The tours will offer insights into the research and protection of Fire Salamanders, as well as highlights of the day related to their conservation.

Expert speakers will be on hand to provide information about the causes, consequences, and protective measures regarding the Fire Salamander and the Bsal fungus. The Zoology department of Bergische University Wuppertal will also have a booth with activities.

In addition to these educational activities, the Green Zoo's proceeds from attractive actions, such as sponsoring fire salamanders and lotteries with prizes like annual tickets for the Green Zoo Wuppertal, support the LARS project.

By attending the "Arche Project Fire Salamander," visitors not only have the chance to learn about these fascinating creatures but also contribute to their conservation efforts. Let's work together to protect the Fire Salamander and ensure their survival for future generations.
