Discovered Alive in Hospital: Son Thought to be Deceased by Parents in Lisbon
In the heart of Lisbon, Portugal, a cable car accident has left a trail of sorrow and shock. The historic cable car "Elevador da Gloria" suffered a catastrophic failure, resulting in 16 fatalities and 21 injuries, some severe.
Among the injured was a German tourist, who was found unconscious but alive in the São José hospital. His family, who were also on board the cable car, were left devastated. The father had tragically lost his life, while his wife was left severely injured. Their three-year-old son, initially presumed dead, was miraculously found alive.
However, the family's identity remains undisclosed in the available sources. The police initially believed the German tourist to be dead but later confirmed he was alive, and DNA testing was conducted to verify his identity.
This was the first such accident involving one of the three cable cars operated in Lisbon since the 19th century. The cause of the accident and whether the cable car was adequately maintained are currently under investigation.
