Jonathan Anderson, the acclaimed designer behind Loewe, has been appointed as the creative director of women's, men's, and haute couture at LVMH-owned Dior. This marks a significant move in Anderson's career, as he prepares to present his first Dior Men collection in Paris on June 27 and make his debut in women's fashion on October 1.

Anderson's success at Loewe, where he served as creative director since 2013, has been evident. The brand sponsored last year's Met Gala and consistently ranked high on the Lyst Index. LVMH, Dior's parent company, took a minority stake in Anderson's namesake JW Anderson label in the same year he joined Loewe.

Delphine Arnault, Christian Dior Couture's chairman and CEO, has expressed interest in Anderson's career since his joining LVMH over ten years ago. She believes that Anderson will bring a modern and creative vision to Dior, a sentiment echoed by Bernard Arnault, LVMH's Chairman and CEO. Anderson thanked both Delphine and Bernard Arnault for their trust and loyalty.

The appointment of Anderson signals a major vote of confidence regarding his ability to recreate the success he brought to Loewe. This is the first time all three Dior collections will be under a single creative vision since the house's founder, Christian Dior, helmed the combined roles.

This appointment is part of a series of creative director changes within LVMH. It's the fourth creative director appointment within the past year at LVMH. Pierpaolo Piccioli was appointed at Balenciaga last month, while Sarah Burton nabbed the top artistic spot at Givenchy in September. Michael Rider took over Celine from Hedi Slimane in October of last year, and Lara Ewen wrote articles titled "LVMH names 3 new CEOs" and "Kim Jones to leave Dior Men."

The first quarter revenue for LVMH was down 2% to 20.3 billion euros, or about $23 billion at the time. Fashion and leather goods, LVMH's largest division, fell 4% to 10.1 billion euros in the first quarter. No brand-specific revenue breakdown was provided.

Anderson was named one of Time Magazine's most influential people in 2024, a testament to his impact on the fashion industry. As he embarks on this new chapter at Dior, Anderson is poised to make a significant impact on one of the world's most iconic fashion houses.
