Digital Key Enhances Its Keypad with Telnet and Customizable CodingFunctionality
The technology company Key Digital has announced an update for its KD-WP8 keypad, introducing Telnet support and several new features that improve its versatility and ease of use.
The KD-WP8-3, the updated version of the keypad, is now equipped with a user-friendly web GUI that allows for simple programming of network settings, button configuration, and event selection. This intuitive interface makes it easier for users to customise the keypad according to their needs.
One of the key enhancements of the KD-WP8-3 is the ability to stack up to 10 commands on a single button press and release/repeat, allowing for up to 20 events per button and a total of 160 events. This feature provides greater control over the devices connected to the keypad.
The KD-WP8-3 is PoE powered and fits into a single-gang wall box, making it a convenient addition to any setup. It also supports programming with variables, a feature that benefits devices like DSP processors and audio amplifiers that require discrete number entry for control of a given parameter.
In terms of connectivity, the KD-WP8-3 can control any IP-networked Key Digital device and also offers support for Telnet, TCP, and UDP protocols. This enables sophisticated and secure IP control of DSP processors and other products, allowing the keypad to make connections, send usernames and passwords, and send control commands.
For projector control, the KD-WP8-3 now supports the PJLink standardized protocol, simplifying the implementation of projector control. It offers three configuration options: IR (infrared), RS-232, and IP control. Additionally, three pre-programmed files are available for customers to download and import for easy and elegant configuration of the KD-WP8-3 for projector control.
The KD-WP8-3 is also compatible with third-party systems and devices through the Compass Control Pro protocol, user-friendly Open API support, or the keypad's integrated IR output and RS-232 port.
The web GUI of the KD-WP8-3 offers project import and export, making it easy to set up multiple control points or duplicate an entire system. Furthermore, the eight-button configuration sends all commands directly to the projector, while the third option routes input selection control commands to Key Digital UCC or switcher devices.
Button caps have icon sheets provided, along with a template for custom printing, adding a personal touch to the keypad. Notably, the KD-WP8-3 is now compatible with Q-SYS via the jointly developed Q-SYS KD-WP8-3 Plugin, due to Key Digital joining the Q-SYS Technology Partner Program.
In summary, the updated KD-WP8-3 keypad from Key Digital offers a range of new features and improvements, making it a powerful and versatile tool for controlling various devices in a setup. With its intuitive web GUI, extensive connectivity options, and enhanced functionality, the KD-WP8-3 is set to simplify and enhance control systems for users.
