Digital Event in 2025, Aschaffenburg
In the heart of Bavaria, the city of Aschaffenburg officially opened its doors to Dima, a groundbreaking digital participation system, on Digital Day 2025. This intelligent platform, developed over a three-year period in collaboration with the Technical University of Aschaffenburg and the city administration's dima team, is a key milestone in Aschaffenburg's municipal digital strategy, Dialog City.
Dima is more than just a building block; it's a comprehensive tool designed to facilitate decision-making and foster active citizenship. The system collects, structures, and evaluates suggestions from citizens using AI, creating concrete project maps that guide the city's urban development.
Mayor Leiderer emphasised the human-centric approach of Dialog City, stating, "Our focus is on the human, not the technology. Digitalization in Aschaffenburg is a joint task."
The opening of Dima was accompanied by a participation festival, which featured workshops on the Dima platform, information on digital administrative services, live music, and participation activities. The festival concluded on July 3rd, inviting citizens to submit their ideas for city center beautification via the website www.beteiligung.unsere Website or in person at the Digital Shop.
The jury will evaluate the submitted ideas, with a budget of up to 50,000 euros available for the most convincing idea. The winning idea will be announced on July 5th during the Aschaffenburg Museum Night.
Dr. Fabian Mehring, State Minister for Digital Affairs, praised Dima as a platform for lived democracy. He saw Dima as a practical instrument for participation, trust, and progress. The financing of this intelligent participation system was supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the funding program kommunal?digital! of the Bavarian Digital Ministry.
The city of Aschaffenburg, under the motto "Your City Center. Your Idea.", participated in Digital Day 2025, signalling a commitment to human-centered, transparent, and future-proof urban development. The opening of Dima marks a significant step towards Aschaffenburg's vision of a digitally empowered, participatory, and progressive city.
