Dependant Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner's coastline abode defaced with questionable graffiti; Rayner condemns offensive slur 'tax dodger' as remarkably distasteful

The Deputy Prime Minister has found herself embroiled in a tax dispute after purchasing a £800,000 seaside flat in Hove. It has been reported that she used funds from a trust set up in her disabled son's name to finance the purchase.

According to tax experts, the nature of the trust made the Hove property ineligible to be treated as the Deputy Prime Minister's only residence. As a result, she was liable to pay additional stamp duty. The Deputy PM learned that the initial advice she received about stamp duty was inaccurate.

In response to the accusations, the Deputy PM referred herself to HMRC and Sir Laurie Magnus, the Prime Minister's independent adviser overseeing ministerial interests. The Education Secretary has also stated that she would not speculate on the outcome of an investigation by the Prime Minister's ethics adviser.

Vandals recently spray-painted the words 'tax evader' and profanity on the Deputy Prime Minister's Hove seaside flat. Across the road, graffiti on a construction site reads "Tax evader Rayner" and "Rayner tax avoidance". The Deputy PM's spokesperson condemned the graffiti as 'totally unjustifiable' and 'beyond the pale'. The PM also condemned the vandalism in the strongest possible terms, stating that neither the Deputy Prime Minister nor her neighbours should be subjected to harassment and intimidation.

It is a matter for the police to take action as they deem appropriate regarding the vandalism. The Deputy Prime Minister sold a 25 per cent share of her house to the trust for £162,500. The Deputy PM removed her name from the deeds of a family property in her Ashton-under-Lyne constituency before purchasing the seaside flat.

The Deputy PM's Labour colleague, Bridget Phillipson, declined to comment on whether Rayner will remain in her role by Christmas. The leading tax lawyer advising Angela Rayner in her tax dispute over the purchase of the Meeresseit property in Hove has not been publicly named.

It is important to note that this is an ongoing situation, and further developments are expected. The PM has been kept up to date on the developments surrounding the stamp duty row.
