Dentsu Lab launches in Mumbai to fuse creativity and tech innovation
Dentsu has expanded its global innovation network with the launch of Dentsu Lab in India. The new facility officially opened in Mumbai on July 15, 2025, joining existing labs in Tokyo, London, and Warsaw. The initiative aims to blend creativity with technology to tackle business and societal challenges.
The Mumbai lab marks Dentsu's latest step in building innovation hubs where ideas meet technical expertise. Led by Gurbaksh Singh, Chief Creative Officer and Chief Innovation Officer for South Asia, the team will focus on creative research and development. Their goal is to connect technologies with real-world applications across different industries.
Prototypes from the lab include Tokonoma and Unlabeled, developed in Tokyo, as well as Garuda Rakshak and Motorola Deep Connect from India. These projects highlight the lab's approach to solving problems through innovation. Yasuharu Sasaki, Global Chief Creative Officer at Dentsu, described India's unique strength as a mix of emotional insight, cultural depth, and technical skill. Amit Wadhwa and Narayan Devanathan, leaders at dentsu South Asia, see the country as a key testing ground for the lab's work. While Mumbai is the only confirmed location so far, the lab's mission remains clear: deliver solutions that drive business growth and create broader societal impact.
Dentsu Lab's arrival in India adds a new dimension to the company's global network. With Mumbai as its base, the lab will explore how creativity and code can address complex challenges.
