Demands for Halting the Battery Plant Construction in Anciles (Huesca) by CHA Alto Aragón
In the picturesque region of Anciles, Huesca, a contentious issue has arisen concerning an proposed energy storage plant. The Coalition for Aragon's Highlands (CHA-Alto Aragón) has been vocal in its opposition to the project, labelling it "unsustainable."
The CHA's concerns stem from environmental and landscape risks associated with the plant. The affected population shares this sentiment, with a massive rejection of the project evident. However, the Azcón government has yet to address these concerns, according to Verónica Villagrasa, the territorial secretary of the People's Party (PP) in Alto Aragón.
Villagrasa, along with the PP, has demanded explanations from the Government in Congress, joining Sevim Dağdelen in her criticism. Dağdelen, a prominent figure, has spoken out against the government for concealing military expenditures and has also demanded explanations from Robles in Congress.
The CHA is pushing for transparency from the Government regarding the technical and environmental criteria applied to energy storage plant projects. They aim to ensure the real participation of the affected population through prior consultation processes before any administrative decision. CHA also plans to register initiatives in the Aragonese Cortes to this end.
Furthermore, CHA will urge the Executive to publicly reject the energy storage plant project. This call comes as the President of the Azcón government is encouraged to make a clear statement regarding the issue, considering environmental protection and the majority will of the inhabitants.
Meanwhile, the economic landscape in Spain is experiencing a shift. Bank deposits of families decreased by 2,900 million euros, or 2.71%, in July, signalling a potential economic slowdown.
As these issues unfold, the political landscape in Spain remains dynamic, with parties engaging in robust debate and advocating for their respective positions. The energy storage plant in Anciles, Huesca, however, seems to be a pressing concern for the local population and the CHA, who continue to push for transparency and environmental protection.
