Delta's Head of Staff disperses saplings among public officials
In a bid to enhance food security in Delta State, an agricultural initiative has been launched, aiming to empower employees to grow their own food and promote homestead farming among civil servants. The scheme, which was commended by the Permanent Secretary in the Head of Service's office, Mr Maxwell Ause, is designed to reduce dependence on external sources for food, foster a culture of self-reliance, and contribute to the state's food production.
The initiative, which aligns with Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori's 'MORE Agenda' focusing on economic growth and sustainability, seeks to supplement the income of civil servants in the state. Dr Mininim Oseji, the Delta Head of Service, recently distributed tomato and pepper seedlings to Permanent Secretaries and staff in key government offices as part of the initiative.
Mr Ause, in his response to the agricultural initiative, assured that it would motivate civil servants to embrace agriculture. The scheme is intended to encourage agriculture among civil servants, promote self-sufficiency in food production, and boost the state's overall food security.
The initiative is also aimed at reducing the state's reliance on external sources for food, thereby contributing to the state's food production and economic growth. By fostering a culture of self-reliance among employees, the scheme aims to empower civil servants and boost their income through farming activities.
The agricultural initiative has been welcomed by many in Delta State as a positive step towards promoting self-sufficiency and economic growth. As the scheme is implemented, it is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of civil servants and the state's food security.
