Delivery of 950 Switch EiV12 Buses Initiated by SWITCH Mobility for Delhi
In a significant move towards sustainable urban mobility, SWITCH Mobility has recently flagged off 950 SWITCH EiV12 - Low Floor Electric City Buses for the Department of Transport, Delhi. This deployment marks a milestone in Delhi's transition towards greener and more efficient public transportation.
The SWITCH EiV12 electric buses, engineered with advanced global technology and manufactured in India, offer a host of features designed for the comfort and safety of passengers. Each bus measures 12 metres in length and can seat up to 39 passengers, including those with disabilities, thanks to a wheelchair ramp. The buses are equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons, GPS tracking, and a rear-end dual-gun charging interface for rapid recharging.
The contract for this delivery was awarded under the CESL tender, and the buses are part of an extensive telematics system that includes Intelligent Transportation Management System (ITMS) capabilities. This system provides real-time vehicle health monitoring and efficient fleet management, ensuring the smooth operation of the buses.
The deployment of these buses is expected to significantly enhance Delhi's public transport ecosystem, contributing to cleaner air and improved quality of life for millions of commuters. Arvind Kejriwal, the person known in the Delhi government for bringing these low-floor electric city buses to the stage, attended the flagging off ceremony, along with several other dignitaries.
SWITCH Mobility's commitment to empowering Indian cities with intelligent, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation solutions is evident in this deployment. This commitment to sustainable urban transportation has been reinforced on multiple occasions, underscoring the company's dedication to a greener future.
This move by SWITCH Mobility is a testament to India's growing emphasis on sustainable urban mobility solutions, and it is expected to set a precedent for other cities in the country. The deployment of these buses is a step towards a cleaner, greener, and more efficient public transportation system in Delhi and beyond.
