Deerfoot WSOP-C Calgary eyes record-breaking $2.8M prize pool in 2024

The Deerfoot WSOP-C in Calgary is on track to break its own prize pool records. January 2024 saw the largest payout yet, with 1,872 players competing for $2,234,625. This time, organisers have increased the buy-in, and early numbers suggest an even bigger event.

In January, the Main Event attracted 1,371 entries, resulting in $2.077 million in prizes. This year's version needs just 1,220 players to hit a $2.5 million prize pool. With 93 entries already recorded and another 200+ expected today, Day 1a could surpass January's 319 entries.

The current prize pool stands at over $190,000, and half of Level 3 remains to be played. If today's flight matches January's turnout, total prizes could exceed $2.8 million. Even with fewer players, the higher buy-in ensures a record-breaking payout.

The event is set to become the biggest WSOP-C Calgary tournament in history. With more entries still coming in, the prize pool will likely surpass all previous records. Players are competing for a share of what could be over $2.8 million in winnings.
