In a recent announcement, General Motors (GM) has issued a recall for the 2023-2026 Corvette Z06 and 2025-2026 ZR1 models due to a potential fuel filler fire hazard. Approximately 13,000 units are affected by this recall, which is identified by the number N252214930.

The issue arises when excess gasoline spills into the filter pocket during refueling. This is a concern, especially in these high-performance vehicles, as they are some of the fastest Chevrolets ever produced. The cooling fan on the left side of the car can potentially waft vapors or droplets of fuel toward an ignition source, such as the engine. If fuel contacts an ignition source in affected cars, there is an increased risk of fire.

To mitigate this risk, GM will provide affected units with a new insert/shield to divert any spilled fuel. However, parts aren't currently available, and a stop-sale order has been placed on the affected models while the fix is awaited.

In light of this, dealers are under a stop-sale order for Corvette C8 models affected by the recall. This means that dealers who have unsold units of these models on their lots in North America cannot deliver them until the issue is resolved. Corvette Forum users have confirmed that dealers are calling to inform them of this delay.

GM prioritizes the safety of its customers and is working to remedy the matter as quickly as possible. The company has also emphasized the importance of following certain refueling practices for affected cars. These include making sure the nozzle is fully inserted, shutting off the engine during refueling, and never 'topping off' after the pump clicks.

Notably, the recall does not affect E-Ray and Stingray models. The Stingray and E-Ray models are not affected by the recall, as it only targets the Z06 and ZR1 setups.

This recall serves as a reminder to all car owners to follow safe refueling practices and to stay informed about any recalls affecting their vehicles. GM encourages affected customers to contact their dealers for more information and updates regarding the recall and the installation of the new insert/shield.
