Deadly traffic collision on L240 highway, occurring between Huxahl and Beckedorf, reported in Bergen
On Tuesday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L240 between Huxahl and Beckedorf, involving multiple vehicles.
The Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Bergen initiated the extinguishing of a burning car and the rescue/assistance of the person in the second vehicle. The extinguishing work on the burning car proved particularly challenging, as it was an electric vehicle.
The local fire departments of Eversen and Beckedorf (municipality of Südheide) joined the rescue operation. Extensive extinguishing measures were required, with up to 3 C-hoses in use at the same time, sometimes under heavy breathing protection. A rescue helicopter was also utilized during the operation.
Tragically, one person involved in the accident died at the scene. Another was taken to a hospital by the rescue service.
The police were present at the scene of the accident, and speculation about the cause of the accident is discouraged. The fire department is unable to provide any information regarding the cause of the accident.
