Deadly Road Mishap on L240: Huxahl to Beckedorf in Bergen Results in Fatal Casualties

On Tuesday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L240 road between Huxahl and Beckedorf.

The Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Bergen was the first on the scene, quickly initiating the extinguishing of a burning car and the rescue/assistance of the person in another vehicle. The local fire departments of Eversen and Beckedorf (Gemeinde Südheide), as well as the rescue service of the district of Celle, were also involved in the response. A rescue helicopter was utilised in the operation.

Unfortunately, one person involved in the accident died at the scene. The public is asked to refrain from speculation regarding the cause of the accident, as the Fire Department cannot provide any information about it.

During the operation and the investigation of the accident, the L240 was completely closed. Another vehicle also left the road and overturned, with the occupant being taken to a hospital by the rescue service.

The extinguishing work on the burning car was particularly challenging, as it was an electric vehicle. Due to the damaged batteries, more extensive extinguishing measures were required, with up to 3 C-pipes in use at the same time, sometimes under heavy breathing protection.
