Fatal Traffic Accident on Federal Highway B76 Near Dodauer Forest

On August 28, 2025, a tragic accident occurred on the federal highway B76 near Dodauer Forest. The collision involved a tractor with a trailer and a Ford car.

According to the reports, the young driver of the Ford, aged 21, from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident. The 17-year-old tractor driver, however, managed to escape the burning vehicle with minor injuries.

The accident occurred between Eutin and the county border with the district of Plön. Immediately after the incident, the tractor caught fire, and both the burned-out tractor and the Ford were seized for further investigation.

The road maintenance department checked the condition of the road surface, and a company was needed to excavate contaminated soil next to the road due to spilled fuel. An expert was called to the scene to determine the exact cause of the accident.

In response to the incident, the rescue service (Rettungsdienst) requested the police headquarters Lübeck to send a specialist to the accident site to investigate the exact circumstances and cause of the accident. The federal highway 76 was closed in the vicinity of the accident until Friday morning.

After all measures were completed, the highway was reopened to traffic in both directions at around 8:00 AM. The total damage is estimated at around 360,000 euros.
