Deadly Auto Collision: A tragic incident involving a vehicle striking a tree, followed by a subsequent impact with another car on a public road in LK, resulting in fatalities.
On the night of May 25, 2024, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the L3131 between Petersweiher and Gießen. According to the Central Hesse Police Headquarters, the incident took place around 00:30.
The accident involved two vehicles: a Porsche and a rental car. The driver of the Porsche, a 67-year-old from Ehringshausen (Lahn-Dill district), overtook the Renault driver and subsequently veered off the road, colliding with a tree and flipping multiple times. Despite immediate rescue efforts, the Porsche driver sustained severe injuries and tragically passed away at the scene. The Renault driver, a 61-year-old from Leun (Lahn-Dill district), was lightly injured and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The Central Hesse Police Headquarters is the responsible authority for the ongoing investigation into the cause of the traffic accident. An expert for accident reconstruction has been commissioned by the responsible public prosecutor's office to investigate the incident.
The affected road was completely closed, and cleanup is still ongoing. Witnesses to the traffic accident are asked to contact the Gießen-Süd police station at Tel. 0641/7006-3555.
The total damage is estimated at approximately 130,000 euros.
