DBP Initiates the Inspire Program for Financial Aid to 350 Students and 150 Educational Institutions
The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has announced a significant corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the DBP Integrated Scholastic Programme for Inclusive and Responsive Education (DBP Inspire), with a total funding of PHP 510-million.
At the helm of this initiative is Michael O. De Jesus, the President of the Philippine Development Bank, who emphasised that the program reinforces the Bank's commitment to fostering support to the education sector.
The DBP Inspire program is a five-year initiative aimed at improving access to quality education at both basic and tertiary levels. It seeks to supplement government efforts in the education sector by providing scholarships to 350 students, covering their tuition, matriculation fees, and other expenses.
The scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in engineering, accountancy, education, agriculture and forestry, sciences, maritime studies, information technology, and technical-vocational courses.
In addition to the scholarship program, the DBP has set aside PHP 72.5-million to support the DepEd's Adopt-a-School and Brigada Eskwela programs. This funding will be used to improve classroom facilities and provide learning equipment for 150 public primary and secondary schools nationwide.
The DBP Inspire program is aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s vision to place education at the forefront of the national development agenda. It aims to provide a comprehensive approach to education, addressing both the financial and infrastructure needs of schools and students.
The DBP is collaborating with the DepEd and partner higher education institutions to implement the DBP Inspire program effectively. The Bank's investment in education reflects its belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities.
With the launch of the DBP Inspire program, the Development Bank of the Philippines is taking a significant step towards its goal of fostering a more inclusive and responsive education system in the Philippines.
