Davao de Oro celebrates local village leader, barangay captain

Local officials gathered at the "Gabi ng Parangal" event, held on September 4, 2025, to recognise the contributions of barangay leaders in Davao de Oro. Among the attendees were Mawab Mayor Myrill Apit, Vice Mayor Ramil Medina, Pantukan Mayor Noy Ceniza, Laak Mayor Honeyboy Libuangan, Nabunturan Mayor Myrocel Balili, Liga ng mga Barangay President John Mark Colina, and DILG Provincial Director Ma. Aurora Corpuz.

Representative Jhong Ceniza, in his address, praised the barangay captains for driving progress in District 2. He emphasised the importance of the leadership of barangay captains at the grassroots level, stating that it strengthens the province's foundation for growth.

Governor Raul Mabanglo lauded the barangay leaders as the province's "first line of public service". He highlighted the unity among leaders beyond political lines that the recognition represents. The recognition seeks to inspire barangay leaders to elevate public service and strengthen community unity in Davao de Oro.

The provincial government honoured barangay captains from the second district during the event. Development programs in the province rely on the dedication and community work of barangay leaders, according to Governor Mabanglo. The recognition of barangay leaders was aimed at showcasing this essential role.

Liga ng mga Barangay President John Mark Colina was present at the event, underscoring the importance of the gathering for the barangay leaders. DILG Provincial Director Ma. Aurora Corpuz was also in attendance, demonstrating the support of the national government for the local initiatives.

The "Gabi ng Parangal" event was part of the Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Congress, a platform for barangay leaders to discuss and strategise for the development of their communities. The event served as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the barangay leaders in Davao de Oro, and a call to continue their efforts in building a stronger and more united province.
