Data surpasses national norms in information speed/volume
In the picturesque Hanseatic city of Stralsund and its surrounding districts of Nordvorpommern and Rügen, the Stralsund Police Directorate has maintained a commendable performance in 2008.
Police Director Siegfried Bruß expressed his gratitude to the entire team for their diligent work, which resulted in a high clearance rate despite a heavy workload. The Directorate handled a total of 7,816 suspects in 2008, with 2,322 of them being under the age of 21.
The year saw a slight increase in street crime cases, with 4,875 cases recorded, marking a rise of 593 cases compared to the previous year. However, the clearance rate in street crime improved, rising from 26.9 percent in 2007 to 27.6 percent in 2008.
The Directorate's efforts were not in vain, as they managed to solve 12,465 crimes in total, a decrease of 149 reports compared to 2007, amounting to 20,431 reports in 2008.
The incidence rate in the Stralsund Police Directorate was 8,614 in the previous year, significantly below the state average of 8,757. This is a testament to the Directorate's effective work in maintaining a pleasing level in terms of the incidence rate.
Averagely, a case of arson was reported every 3 days, and a robbery on public streets, paths, and squares was reported every 6 days. Fortunately, the number of theft cases decreased from 8,623 in 2007 to 8,005 in 2008.
The clearance rate remained high at 60.6 percent in 2008, above the state average of 58.1 percent. The proportion of suspects under the age of 21 increased slightly from 29.2 percent in 2007 to 29.7 percent in the reporting period.
