Daily Itinerary for the 'Tour dementia' Event: Initiative and Activities for Families and Affected Individuals Impacted by Dementia

On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host a significant action day focused on the topic of dementia. This event, aptly named "Aktionstag Dementia," brings together local healthcare providers, dementia support organisations, municipal social services, volunteer groups, and more, all dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources for those affected by dementia.

The action-packed day will kick off with a bicycle tour, the "Tour Demenz," organised by the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land. The tour will make a stop in Bergisch Gladbach, with Radwerk (Caritas) accompanying the group. Registration for this event is required by September 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, the City Library will host an exhibition on the topic of dementia from September 15-27. The library will also feature an information booth and interactive activities. Additionally, a display of portrait photos from the encounter centres of Caritas RheinBerg, titled "The Radiance of Age," will be exhibited on the Market Square City Center from 2:30 PM.

Lectures are planned at the DRK Refrather Treff and the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach. At the DRK Refrather Treff, Chief Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture at 10:00 AM titled "Dement - what now?" while Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the City of Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture at 12:00 PM titled "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better."

At the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach, a lecture titled "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" will be given by Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention at 5:30-7:00 PM.

Actions and information booths will be available on the Market Square City Center from 2:30 PM. These booths will provide information and materials from the Aging Support Office, Care Consultation Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, and the Contact Office for Care Self-Help RBK.

For those interested in art, a tour "With All Senses" will take place at Villa Zanders at 4:00 PM, with a focus on encountering selected artworks from the exhibition "Eckart Hahn: Papiertiger." Registration for this event is also required by September 15, 2025.

The visit to all events is free of charge, but registration is required for the offer at 4:00 PM "With All Senses in Rhythm of Memory" in Villa Zanders by September 15, 2025.

ADFC Rhein-Berg will offer an e-tandem for testing. For more information and the full daily program, visit www.ourwebsite.de/aktionstag-demenz-2025.aspx or contact the specialist office on aging at 02202 - 14 15 46 or 02202 - 14 24 67.
