Daily Agenda for 'Tour dementia' Action: Highlighting Information, Meetings for Family Members and Victims Affected by Dementia
On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host a Dementia Action Day, an event aimed at raising awareness and providing support for those affected by dementia. The day will be organised in conjunction with the World Alzheimer's Day and the annual bike tour "Tour Demenz".
The event offers a varied program, including lectures, exhibitions, interactive activities, and information booths. The action day will kick off at 10:00 AM with a lecture by Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from EVK Bergisch Gladbach, titled "Dement - what now?".
At 12:00 PM, Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture titled "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better". This will be followed by a consultation on powers of attorney and precautions provided by the guardianship office.
Participation in all events is free of charge. Registration is required for some offers, such as the guided tour "With all senses in the rhythm of memory" at Villa Zanders at 4:00 PM, and the lecture by Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention, titled "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" at 5:30-7:00 PM. Registration must be completed by September 15, 2025.
Aging Support Office, Care Counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, and the Contact office for self-help care will all be present, offering information and materials. The Stadtbücherei will have an information booth and interactive activities, as well as hosting a media exhibition on the topic of dementia from September 15-27.
The bike group of the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land will arrive at the market square around 3:25 PM. "The Shine of Age" - Portrait photos from the encounter centres of Caritas RheinBerg - will be displayed on the Marktplatz Stadtmitte from 2:30 PM.
