Action Day Focused on Dementia Happening in Bergisch Gladbach on September 17

On Thursday, September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day dedicated to the important topic of dementia. This event, organised by the local health department in collaboration with regional Alzheimer's associations, promises a varied program from morning to evening.

The day kicks off with a lecture by Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach at 10:00 AM titled "Dement - what now?". This will be followed by a bicycle tour, the "Tour Demenz", which will arrive at the Market Square around 3:25 PM, with the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives of the city and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis welcoming the group.

From 2:30 PM, the Market Square will be bustling with information booths from various organisations such as the Contact office for self-help care, City Library, Guardianship office, Aging Specialist Office, Care counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, ADFC Rhein-Berg, and Radwerk (Caritas). "The radiance of aging" - portrait photos from the encounter centers of Caritas RheinBerg, will also be displayed.

At the City Library, a media exhibition on the topic of dementia will be held from September 15-27.

Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture at 12:00 PM on "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better".

In the afternoon, a tour "With all senses" with curator Maike Sturm is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Villa Zanders. This will be followed by a dance offer "In the rhythm of memory" - movement for people with and without dementia of TV Refrath, with dance pedagogue Katharina Simbrunner. Registration for both events is required by September 15, 2025.

The event will conclude with a lecture by Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention, at 5:30-7:00 PM on "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties".
