Daily Activities Schedule for 'Tour dementia': A rundown of events for the day dedicated to families and individuals affected by dementia
On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day focused on "Dementia". The event is in conjunction with World Alzheimer's Day and includes a variety of activities designed to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by dementia.
The day's events kick off at the city center market square from 2:30 pm, where "The glow of age" portrait photos will be displayed. At around 3:25 pm, the bicycle group, led by First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives, will arrive for a break.
The action day offers a diverse programme from morning to evening. Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen will give a lecture at the DRK Refrather Treff at 10:00 am, followed by Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach at 12:00 pm. A lecture on "Driving with dementia" will be given by Nicole Sutschet at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach from 5:30-7:00 pm.
For those interested in art, a guided tour "With all senses" is taking place at Villa Zanders at 4:00 pm, with a focus on encountering selected artworks. Registration for this tour is required by September 15, 2025.
The Regional Office for Age, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land, the institution organising the event, also collaborates on additional events such as informative workshops and awareness initiatives related to dementia on the same day.
Actions and information booths can be found on the city center market square from 2:30 pm. The aging support office offers information and materials, while Care Counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis provides consultation, information, and materials. The city library has an information booth and interactive activities.
ADFC Rhein-Berg offers an e-tandem to try out, and Radwerk (Caritas) offers accompaniment for the bicycle group of the Regional Office for Age, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land.
The guardianship office provides consultation on powers of attorney and advance care planning. Participation in all events is free of charge, except for the offer at 4:00 pm "With all senses in the rhythm of memory" in Villa Zanders, for which registration is required by September 15, 2025.
