Cycling tragedy: Teenager collapses due to heart attack mere miles from finish, succumbing to the tragedy

Cyclist, aged 16, succumbs to sudden heart failure mere miles away from the race's end.

The Joué-les-Tours Cycling Union has announced with deep sadness the passing of Noa Sartis, a 16-year-old cycling prodigy, during a cadet category race held in Courcemont, northwest France.

Noa, son of Yvan Sartis, a former high-level amateur cyclist, triathlon enthusiast, and runner, was known for his generosity, combative spirit, and the appreciation he earned from his teammates, coaches, and club directors. Stéphane Lemaitre, president of Noa's club, described him as a cyclist in great shape, motivated, and always ready to get on his bike.

Stéphane Lemaitre and others who knew Noa also spoke of his infectious smile and likable personality. The communiqué from the UC Joué-les-Tours sends sincere condolences and all support to Noa Sartis's parents, Nicolas and Yvan.

Noa's cycling career was already marked by numerous victories. He was the regional and departmental champion of track pursuit and also won speed races. This year, he triumphed in the velodrome event in Montlouis and the event in St. Aignan. His achievements culminated in a 13th place finish in the French cadet category time trial championship this summer.

This tragic event comes just a few months after the death of another young French cyclist, Simon Millon, aged 24, who was found dead after a race in Brittany. The French cycling community is left reeling from these losses.

The French club has announced the death of Noa Sartis on its official Facebook account. An another race scheduled for the following day was cancelled due to the tragic event. Our thoughts are with Noa Sartis's family, friends, and the cycling community during this difficult time.
