Cybersecurity enhancements by Leonardo through acquisition of Axiomatics
Leonardo, the multinational aerospace, defence, and security company, has announced its acquisition of Swedish company Axiomatics AB. This is Leonardo's fourth industrial partnership or M&A operation in cybersecurity within a short period, and it aligns with the company's Industrial Plan to bolster its international presence.
The acquisition of Axiomatics, founded in 2006 and based in Stockholm with a presence in North America, is integral to Leonardo's Global Cybersecurity Platform (GCC Platform). Axiomatics is the sole European provider of a platform for Zero Trust architecture, a cybersecurity model where all system, network, and data access is continuously verified.
The Axiomatics' solution offers fine-grained, dynamic control over access to protected systems, crucial for defence, government agencies, and infrastructure. This addition enhances Leonardo's Zero Trust portfolio, providing a more robust and comprehensive approach to cybersecurity.
The GCC Platform, which also enhances cyber observability and proactive threat anticipation, will be strengthened by this acquisition. The platform utilizes Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) for authorization management and data security.
PwC assisted Leonardo in the acquisition process, ensuring a smooth transition. The integration of Axiomatics into Leonardo's cybersecurity services and sales network will allow the company to capitalize on the growing market for Zero Trust architecture.
Leonardo has also entered into partnerships and acquisitions with Arbit, SSH Communications Security Corporation, and CanaryBit, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening its cybersecurity offerings.
The acquisition of Axiomatics AB is subject to confirmation from Swedish direct foreign investment (FDI) regulations for defense companies and typical investment conditions. The acquisition is expected to be finalised within a few months from the announcement date, with LeonardoADR taking over the Swedish company.
This move is part of Leonardo's broader strategic initiatives in the Nordic cybersecurity market, positioning the company for continued growth and innovation in the field.
