These young customs officers can expect to work in a wide range of areas, including clerical tasks, special units, and various customs offices. Upon completion, the Main Customs Office generally hires all suitable young talents.
For those interested in the dual study program in administrative informatics, applications can be submitted to the General Customs Directorate. The application period for this program ends on October 15, 2025, for a start date of September 1, 2026. The practical phases of the training will be spent in various departments of the Main Customs Office, including the Financial Control of Illegal Work, and at customs offices in Bensheim, Darmstadt, Hanau, or Wiesbaden. The theoretical parts of the training will take place at different locations of the Federal Administration Academy.
The new recruits will undergo a two-year apprenticeship in the middle service or a three-year study in the higher service. The IT talent of the higher service, whose dual study of administrative informatics also starts on September 1, will preferably be employed in the field of digital forensics, digitization, database maintenance, and various project work.
