Customs Insights Day in Magdeburg and Halle (Saale) during the autumn break, organized by HZA-MD in Saxony-Anhalt

The Main Customs Office Magdeburg, a local authority of the customs administration in Saxony-Anhalt, is hosting a Customs Information Day for students during the autumn holidays in 2025. The event aims to present the Customs Office as an attractive employer and provide students with a unique insight into the daily work of customs officers.

The Customs Information Day will take place on October 16, 2025, in Halle (Saale), at the Main Customs Office Magdeburg, Merseburger Straße 196, and on October 23, 2025, in Magdeburg-Rothensee. The event will run from 9 am to 2 pm.

The Main Customs Office Magdeburg is responsible for various customs matters, including the collection of taxes, customs duties, and the control of cross-border goods traffic. In 2024, the office collected approximately 1.9 billion euros in taxes and customs duties and processed around 241,000 customs declarations.

All students who have at least an intermediate school leaving certificate can apply, including those who already have a school leaving certificate (at least intermediate). Applications for the event can be sent by email to [email protected].

During the event, students will participate in small groups to learn about the profession, training, and dual studies of a customs officer. They will get a first-hand look at areas such as Financial Control, Customs Office, Customs Investigation and Control Unit Traffic Routes, Examination Service, and Duties Collection.

In addition to its regular duties, the Main Customs Office Magdeburg also plays a crucial role in combating illegal activities. In 2024, the office seized around 707,000 cigarettes and 390 kg of illegal fireworks. The office also uncovered around 14.2 million euros in damage caused by illegal work.
