Custom bike manufacturer Canyon introduces bespoke artist-crafted frames through a new service

Canyon Launches Custom Bike Service with Artistic Flair

German bike manufacturer Canyon is set to make a splash in the US market with the launch of their custom bike service, MyCanyon. The service, which is launching this month, is the culmination of over two decades of development and obsession over modern bicycles by the company, founded by Roman Arnold and headquartered in Koblenz.

The MyCanyon collection offers unique designs developed with contemporary artists and designers. One such collaboration is with Italian product designer and artist Elena Salmistraro, whose work can be seen in the Opus collection. Another collaboration is with futurist artist Felipe Pantone, who brings a dynamic and energetic flair to the Aeroad CFR frame designs.

Pantone used metallic, iridescent paints to create a kinetic fusion of familiar motifs and futuristic energy on the bike frames. His designs were meticulously hand-painted at the factory, with every intricate detail carefully crafted to boost dynamism. Pantone printed his patterns on paper, accentuating and reinforcing design lines to create a striking visual impact.

Pantone's project was a meaningful extension of his work, refining his signature style and reinforcing the dynamic interplay of color and form. Felipe Pantone crafted original pieces and revisited some of his signature patterns for the bike frame designs, focusing on capturing the 'organised chaos' of speed.

The Aeroad CFR can be customised with three collections of frame artwork, including the special art-designed series created in collaboration with artists Elena Salmistraro and Felipe Pantone. The Fabrio collection of frames features special pigments and finishes that create a dynamic finish that shifts with changing light.

In addition to Elena Salmistraro and Felipe Pantone, other artists involved in collaboration with Canyon for the development of individual bike frame designs include Adam Lucas and Scott Campbell. The Mano collection features individually hand-painted designs, ensuring no two bikes will ever be the same.

MyCanyon offers a chance for cycling enthusiasts to own a truly unique piece of art, while also enjoying the high-performance qualities that Canyon is known for. The first model available to customise via MyCanyon is the Aeroad CFR race bike, first introduced in 2010 and updated in 2024. With its combination of artistry and functionality, MyCanyon by Canyon is set to redefine the world of cycling.
