Current situation in Baden-Baden

In the picturesque town of Baden-Baden, a series of events has unfolded, leaving the community in a state of tension. The Mayor, Dietmar Spaeth, is currently receiving medical care, and his absence has led to a redistribution of duties and the abolition of the Social Mayor position.

As the summer break at the town hall comes to an end on September 22, the city's main committee will reconvene. In the meantime, Alexander Wieland, Baden-Baden's First Mayor, has taken over the mayor's duties, supported by Roland Kaiser (Greens) and Tobias Krammerbauer. Wieland, who is already fully occupied with his own departments of construction, forestry, and gardens, will now also oversee culture and schools.

The situation in Baden-Baden is particularly challenging due to a severe financial crisis. Urgent savings concepts must be presented by the city's main committee to address the city's heavy debt. This financial predicament has also led to the abolition of the position of Social Mayor by the end of November.

Dietmar Spaeth's extended absence from his post is not only due to his health issues but also due to an ongoing legal dispute, known as the "Hurenbock" process. This dispute, which has weighed on the Mayor, involves a woman from the red-light district in Baden-Baden.

The city, however, has not yet announced any official plan for Mayor Spaeth's extended absence. There are also no available search results indicating that a Plan B has been developed in case the Mayor remains hospitalized longer than expected.

The Mayor's absence and the ongoing financial crisis have not gone unnoticed, with Dietmar Spaeth facing public criticism in connection with the financial crisis in Baden-Baden. Despite these challenges, the city council will make initial decisions on September 29, with Mayor Dietmar Spaeth absent.

As Baden-Baden navigates these trying times, the community awaits updates on the Mayor's recovery and the city's financial future with anticipation.
