Cultural extravaganza unfolds in Ingolstadt - Festival of Cultures showcases diverse global heritage

The Festival of Cultures returns to Ingolstadt on July 25 and 26, transforming Klenzepark and the Danube embankment into a vibrant melting pot of cultures. This annual event, considered a significant highlight for the city, showcases the rich tapestry of traditions from around 140 nations represented by over 140,000 residents[1][2].

The festival kicks off on July 25 at 5:30 pm on the Donaubühne (Danube stage), with speeches by Mayor Dr. Michael Kern, Xavier Ross (Audi's Personnel Director), and Jörg Schlagbauer, Chairman of Audi's Works Council[1].

On July 26, the festivities continue with a music and dance program organised by more than 30 local cultural associations, a record number for the festival. New participants this year include groups like Indian Nomads Ingolstadt, the Indisch-Deutscher Verein Ingolstadt, Philippinisch-Deutsche Hilfe für Straßenkinder, Albanisch-Kosovarisch-Deutscher Verein, and the Deutsch-Arabisch-Islamische Organisation (Zaytounah Moschee). The Integration and Culture Club Ingolstadt represents South Asia[1].

Children are not left out of the celebrations, with a variety of activities designed to engage and entertain. From button-making and flower arranging to creative activities, the young ones are sure to find something to delight in[2].

The traditional rubber duck race (Entenrennen) on the Danube River takes place on Saturday at 5 pm. Gummi ducks, some decorated by participating cultural groups, race from the Konrad-Adenauer-Bridge. Winners are announced on stage afterward[2].

The festival is committed to inclusivity, ensuring barrier-free access to toilets and most event areas for people with disabilities[2].
