Cultural Celebration in Astana: India's Friendship and Tradition Showcase
India Celebrates Independence Day in Astana with a Grand Cultural Festival
The Indian Cultural Centre at the Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan, recently hosted a week-long festival to celebrate India's Independence Day. The event, known as the "Days of Indian Culture," was inaugurated on Arbat Pedestrian Street and will continue until the 17th of August.
Suresh K. Tangal, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan, opened the event. In his speech, Ambassador Tangal expressed gratitude to the Kazakh people for their warm reception and hospitality. The festival was dedicated to the 79th anniversary of India's independence.
Dr. Nalini Singh, Director of the Indian Cultural Centre, stated that the aim of the event was to celebrate India's Independence Day with Kazakh friends and foster mutual understanding. She added that events like these bring the peoples closer and display the beauty of Indian culture.
The opening cultural program featured a variety of performances. Indian classical dance "Kathak," Indian folk dances, performances on the classical Indian drum "tabla," modern dances by the Mayuri Devdas ensemble, and solo performances by artists from various cities in Kazakhstan were all part of the show. Kazakh national dances were performed by dancers from Astana.
The festival showcased India's rich heritage of music, dance, yoga, and cinema. Open-air Bollywood film screenings, yoga classes, and cultural workshops were included in the program. A zone of traditional Indian art, including mehendi - henna painting, was available for festival-goers.
Interactive events were also part of the festival. Honorable guests at the ceremony included Dinmukhamed Kuldashov and Aray Ordabayeva. The evening concluded with patriotic and fusion dances symbolizing the cultural unity of India and Kazakhstan.
The scale of the festival grows each year, with this year's event being a large-scale cultural festival. It is one of the largest Indian cultural events in Astana, reflecting the shared traditions and strong friendship between India and Kazakhstan. Various dishes from Indian cuisine were available for sampling, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival.
