Crypto casino influencers spark outrage at LA charity meal drive

A charity meal drive in Los Angeles was disrupted when two crypto casino influencers attempted to hand out alcohol to unhoused people. The event, organised by the Steven Williams Foundation, provides over 1,200 meals a month to those in need in the Skid Row neighbourhood. Their actions were met with immediate backlash from volunteers and attendees alike. The influencers arrived at the meal drive wearing Meta glasses, recording their actions as they tried to distribute bottles of liquor. One of them openly admitted to promoting Rainbet, a crypto casino platform. Volunteers quickly intervened, confronting the pair and demanding they leave the premises.

This isn't the first time such stunts have taken place. Last autumn, influencer Keith Castillo—known online as 'povwolfy'—was reported for offering alcohol and machetes to unhoused individuals in multiple cities. Similar tactics have been used before by crypto casino influencers as part of controversial marketing campaigns. The Steven Williams Foundation, which regularly serves meals to vulnerable communities, condemned the behaviour as harmful and lacking compassion. Organisers stressed that the event was meant to provide essential support, not to be exploited for publicity.

The influencers were escorted away from the meal drive after their disruptive behaviour drew criticism. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about unethical marketing tactics targeting vulnerable groups. The foundation continues its work, ensuring meals reach those who rely on them in Skid Row.
