Criminal Investigation in North Rhine-Westphalia: Suspected Thieves of Video Material D electronically arrested by Federal Officers

On August 19th, an unfortunate incident occurred at Bochum Central Station. The investigation is being led by the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin, following a report of aggravated theft.

At around 03:10, a 45-year-old German national, who remains unnamed, approached a sleeping 31-year-old homeless man. The suspect, described as a man about 1.80 meters tall, wearing black sunglasses and carrying a black shoulder bag, repeatedly nudged the homeless man before taking a box of cigarettes from his pocket.

The stolen property was swiftly recovered by the Federal Police, and the cigarettes were returned to their rightful owner. However, the suspect was released after the incident.

The investigation is likely to focus on the circumstances surrounding the aggravated theft. It may also seek to determine why the suspect targeted a homeless individual. The findings of the investigation will be made public once concluded, and they could potentially result in charges being brought against the suspect.
