Criminal Activity: Roll-top raised, patio door shattered; stroller bag stolen; suspected copper thief apprehended through an act of violence; additional incidents detailed
On Tuesday afternoon, a series of incidents took place in and around Offenbach am Main, causing disruption and concern for local residents.
In the most significant incident, a traffic accident occurred on the A3 motorway between the junctions Obertshausen and Hanau, in the direction of Würzburg. The accident involved three vehicles, resulting in significant traffic congestion and a backup. Two drivers, a 35-year-old Peugeot driver and a 36-year-old Seat driver, were injured and required hospitalization. The Peugeot driver clipped the rear of a stationary truck during the accident.
Elsewhere in Offenbach am Main, an 84-year-old man was taken to a clinic with severe head injuries after an incident in the Schlossgartenstraße, near a bus stop, at around 12 o'clock. The police are investigating the background of the accident and are asking witnesses to call 069 8098-5100.
A break-in occurred on Tuesday between 5 and 21 o'clock in a multi-family house in Friedhofstraße. The perpetrators gained access by pushing up the blind of the terrace door and smashing the glass. Jewelry and cash were stolen, and the damage is estimated at around 500 euros. Witnesses of the break-in are asked to call the criminal police at 069 8098-1234.
In a separate incident, a theft occurred on the playground in the Quartierspark in the Mathildenviertel (Mathildenstraße, 10s house numbers). An unknown woman, around 50 years old, slim figure, bald, wearing a pink cap and a beige T-shirt, took the bag hanging on the stroller of the victim, containing the wallet of an Offenbach resident and children's utensils.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 27-year-old alerted the police just before 13 o'clock, leading to the discovery of a suspected copper thief in an apartment in August-Hecht-Straße. Copper cables worth a high four-figure amount were found, and the 35-year-old suspect had to go to the police station for further police measures. A criminal proceeding is now pending against the suspect, among other things, on suspicion of theft. The origin of the stolen cables is part of the ongoing investigations.
