Crime Scene Investigation: Quick Flashes

In the latest instalment of the crime series D 2021, viewers are introduced to a new case that promises to be as thrilling as ever. The episode, rated 12 by the FSK, follows the investigation of a suspected murder, with Alois Meininger, a previously convicted murderer, at the centre of the mystery.

Martin Leutgeb portrays the enigmatic Alois Meininger, while Miroslav Nemec takes on the role of Ivo Batic, one of the detectives leading the investigation. Udo Wachtveitl plays Franz Leitmayer, Batic's partner in crime-solving.

The heart of the investigation lies in the former therapy room, meticulously reconstructed as a set. The team, led by neuropsychologist Prof. Ralph Vonderheiden, played by AndrΓ© Jung, leads Prinz, Meininger's former therapist, into the room in an attempt to extract clues. Prinz, portrayed by Peter Franke, is suffering from dementia, adding a challenging layer to the investigation.

The project also involves a team of specialists, including forensic psychologists, neurologists, dementia care experts, and legal professionals. They collaborate to apply adapted interview techniques tailored for individuals with cognitive impairments, such as simplified language, non-verbal communication cues, and patience, to uncover information about Meininger's situation.

As the experiment progresses, deeper abysses are uncovered than initially assumed, promising a gripping tale of mystery and suspense. The series is directed by Andreas Kleinert, ensuring a well-crafted narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

Meininger, however, remains in hiding, and no evidence of his whereabouts has been found. The last hope of finding him lies with Prinz, making his cooperation crucial to the success of the investigation.

Dr. Laura Lechner, played by Anna Grisebach, also plays a significant role in the series, contributing to the intricate web of characters that make up D 2021.

The trailer for the episode is now available, offering a tantalising glimpse into the upcoming mystery. Tune in to find out if Batic and Leitmayr can solve the case and bring Meininger to justice.
