Crime rates in Leipzig are on the rise, particularly burglaries.
In the picturesque town of Großpösna and its surrounding areas, a series of robberies have left residents and business owners on edge. Over the past week, five incidents of theft have been reported, targeting various establishments and residential properties.
The most recent incident occurred at a single-family home in Großpösna, where thieves made off with money, jewelry worth 5,000 euros, and personal documents. This robbery, unlike previous reported incidents, involved the theft of items beyond money, including jewelry and personal documents.
Prior to this, a robbery took place at a residential property in Großpösna, the details of which are still under investigation. Personal documents were among the items stolen in this incident.
In another incident, thieves targeted a restaurant on Brühl, stealing unspecified items. Meanwhile, a store on Goldschmidtstraße was robbed, with electronic devices and several thousand euros being the items stolen.
The nature of the items stolen in the Großpösna robbery differs from those stolen in the previous reported incidents.
In a more unusual turn of events, thieves have targeted a clubhouse in Colditz, stealing technical devices and hundreds of euros in cash.
A business in Leipzig was also targeted, though the specific items stolen are not yet known.
However, it seems that the spate of thefts in the area may have come to an end, as no new break-ins in Leipzig were reported in recent days. Nevertheless, a 24-year-old man was convicted for a series of 69 break-ins in Leipzig and Markranstädt between July 2022 and March 2023. These break-ins involved thefts from single-family homes, apartments, about 40 shops, and restaurants, stealing cash, jewelry, and a vehicle, causing over 350,000 euros in damage.
Investigations are ongoing for the robbery in Großpösna, and authorities are urging residents and business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local police.
