Crime is on the rise in the South-Fortune region, as mentioned by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Bastrykin, at a meeting in Sochi.

In a recent announcement, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, reported an increase in crime in the Southern Federal District. According to the Committee's data, approximately 22,000 citizen appeals from the region have been received, with the main issues raised being shared construction, healthcare, and medication supply.

The rise in criminal activities involving foreign citizens is a significant concern, as per the Investigative Committee. The data shows a notable increase in such activities, with around 2,000 incidents involving migrants registered since the beginning of the year, marking a 17% increase from the previous year.

Bastrykin highlighted a direct correlation between the increase in crime among migrants and violations of labor legislation by employers. He pointed out insufficient control by relevant authorities as a contributing factor to this issue.

The Chairman noted that the most effective work in addressing the increase in migrant crime is being done in the Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast. However, in other regions, measures to combat the increase in migrant crime are being taken on an ad-hoc basis.

The Investigative Committee also indicated that the insufficient oversight is a factor in the increase in crime. This oversight, particularly in monitoring the criminal activities of migrants, has been lacking, as reported by the Committee.

In addition, Bastrykin reported that around 56,000 people in the Southern Federal District live in dilapidated housing. This condition, coupled with the lack of proper oversight, may be exacerbating the issues of crime and appeals from citizens.

The increase in crimes committed by migrants was first noted by Bastrykin at a meeting in Sochi. Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, made this announcement, emphasising the need for improved oversight and enforcement to combat this growing problem.
