On July 10, 2025, Building the Legend, a renowned workshop specialising in restorations, engine rebuilds, and full recreations of legendary automobiles, began a unique collaboration. This time, the project was to create a custom car design that would blend the vintage aesthetic of the Jaguar E-Type with modern-day functionality.

The initial stage of the project involved blocking out the major parts of the car, including the hood, body, and roof, using Autodesk Maya. The car's dimensions were set at a length of 4.80 meters, width of 2 meters, and height of 1.2 meters.

As the modeling stage progressed, attention turned to adding details to the body. Grills, spoilers, lights, window shapes, and the rear silhouette were all carefully crafted. The client requested an increase in the size of the badge by 150% and a black mesh to be added to the "mouth" of the car and to the air intakes on the sides.

The first client feedback revealed that the car appeared "slab-sided" and needed more curves in its main shape. The design was updated to be more "feminine" and "sensual" to address this concern. Headlights were agreed upon as single-bulb type, and proximity sensors were added to the bumpers.

Wheels, tires, and windows were also modeled during this stage. The client chose Ferrari red as the final colour for the car, with black and California sage green added as secondary colours. The car design was further refined, with modifications requested for the "mouth", rear lights, tire thickness, hood, and other parts.

The client also requested an artist's suggestion for a front air spoiler at the bottom. The collaboration aimed to create a car that was not only visually appealing but also functional, with the addition of the spoiler helping to improve aerodynamics.

The client approved the updated design and requested minor changes to the shape of the spoiler and bottom air intakes. The process of creating a good topology in 3D modeling was employed to arrange vertices, edges, and faces for a more defined shape of the surface of the model.

The final renders were done against a minimalist studio backdrop in a dark palette. The client wanted to see the model in various colours and pick whichever looked best. The client's feedback was applied, and the updated design was shared with him the next day.

One of Building the Legend's notable works is a replica of the Jaguar XJ13 powered by Tera V12 engine. With this custom car project, they continue to showcase their expertise in creating unique and stunning vehicles that combine the best of vintage and modern design.
