Coronavirus escalates in the Rhine region

As of October 6th, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Rhein-Kreis Neuss has risen to 155, according to the latest data. This represents an increase of 130 cases since July 12th, when the number stood at 27.

In a concerning development, an employee at the daycare centre "Under the Rainbow" in Meerbusch has tested positive for the virus. As a result, the daycare centre will remain closed until October 19th for deep cleaning and contact tracing. A total of 14 other employees have been quarantined as a precautionary measure.

Currently, 17 individuals are hospitalised due to coronavirus infection, putting a strain on the healthcare system. The tracing system for coronavirus infection chains is already overwhelmed, making it challenging to identify and isolate new cases promptly.

If the rate of new coronavirus infections reaches 50 per 100,000 inhabitants in Rhein-Kreis Neuss, stricter measures may be implemented. However, the exact nature of these measures is not yet known. It's worth noting that when the COVID-19 incidence rate exceeds 50, measures typically involve intensified testing, contact tracing, possible local restrictions, and hygiene rules enforced by the local health authorities and the Gesundheitsamt, which is responsible for infection protection and hygiene in the area. For precise and current information, contacting the Rhein-Kreis Neuss public authorities or health department directly is recommended.
