Converse bets on Stranger Things collab amid steep revenue decline

Converse has unveiled a new collection inspired by the hit series Stranger Things. The line includes updated versions of the Chuck Taylor All Star and Chuck 70, featuring design elements tied to the show. This comes as the brand reports a sharp drop in revenue for its latest fiscal year.

The collaboration marks the second time Converse has partnered with Stranger Things, following a 2019 sneaker release. The latest collection aims to attract fans across age groups by blending nostalgia with modern fashion. Meanwhile, Gap also launched a limited-edition Stranger Things clothing line last November, timed with the show's fifth and final season.

Converse's financial results for 2024 show a challenging year. Revenue fell 19% to $1.692 billion, while pre-tax profits dropped 49% to $240 million. Leadership changes are also underway, with Aaron Cain set to replace Jared Carver as CEO.

Stranger Things, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, premiered in 2016 and concluded its five-season run in 2025. The show's cultural impact has led to multiple brand partnerships, though Nike has not been involved in this latest Converse project.

The new Stranger Things collection arrives as Converse faces financial setbacks and a leadership transition. The brand hopes the collaboration will strengthen its connection with fans of the show. The line is expected to launch in early 2025.
