Hamburg Police Crack Down on Speeding During ROADPOL Action
On 09.04.2025, the Hamburg Police joined forces with the European Roads Policing Network (ROADPOL) to conduct a road safety action in the city area. Over a 16-hour period, from 06:00 to 22:00, approximately 270 police officers participated in the operation, inspecting a total of 720 individuals and nearly 700 vehicles.
The focus of the action was on disregard for speed limits, one of the most common causes of accidents. As a result, 1,708 speeding offenses were issued using mobile and stationary speed cameras.
In the Falkenbergsweg area, a driver was caught traveling at 69 km/h in a 30 km/h zone. The offender now faces a fine of approximately €288, a one-month driving ban, and two points in the driving register.
In a more severe case, a 21-year-old driver of a VW Polo was caught driving at 189 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. This reckless behaviour resulted in a three-month driving ban, two points in the Flensburg driving register, and a fine of approximately €738.
While specific details about criminal and administrative offenses penalized during the action were not provided, it is clear that the Hamburg Police will continue to conduct checks to enhance road safety and raise awareness among road users. Speed monitoring is a permanent part of Hamburg Police's traffic safety work.
The action was led by Traffic Direction 1, demonstrating the commitment of the Hamburg Police to ensuring the safety of its citizens and visitors on the city's roads. The police will continue to strive for a road environment where speed limits are respected and accidents are minimised.
