In the heart of Germany, a distressing event unfolded on August 11, 2025, as a 31-year-old man jumped into the Rhine at the Eglisau power plant in Freiburg. The incident, which took place around 5:30 PM, led to a massive rescue operation that involved Swiss forces, DLRG boats, the volunteer fire department, the Swiss Civil Protection, and even a police and rescue helicopter from Switzerland.
The man, who had been living in Switzerland, was retrieved from the Rhine near Hohentengen around 7:30 PM. However, tragically, he was already lifeless when he was retrieved.
