Construction site containers dismantled in Caaschwitz and Bad Köstritz, under LPI-G operation
Two construction sites in the city of Gera, Germany, have been targeted by thieves and vandals over the weekend. The Gera Police Inspectorate confirmed the incidents, which occurred on construction sites in Elsterstraße, Caaschwitz, and Hergerstraße, Bad Köstritz, between August 26 and 27, 2025.
In the Elsterstraße construction site, unknown individuals broke into five construction containers, making off with tools and two bags of deposit bottles. The estimated value of the stolen goods is in the mid-three-digit range, while the damage to the containers is likely to reach a four-digit amount.
Meanwhile, at the Hergerstraße construction site, four containers were forced open, but the perpetrators were disturbed, abandoned their plan, and left the construction site without any loot. Various tools were gathered at a storage location on the site, suggesting that the thieves had intended to steal them. The damage caused on the Hergerstraße construction site is also estimated at a low four-digit amount.
The Gera Police is investigating both cases for the particularly serious offense of theft. At this time, no public information is available about who committed the thefts or the vandalism at the construction sites.
