Construction on Munich's main road to last for nine weeks, resulting in an upcoming city lockdown.

In an effort to enhance traffic safety and public space, a significant construction project is set to take place on Lindwurmstraße in Munich. The project, which is scheduled to begin in October 2024, will last for nine weeks and will involve various improvements such as wider sidewalks, new bike lanes, designated loading zones, and the retention of most existing parking spaces.

Residents of Munich will be able to stay informed about this construction and other important stories through the Hallo Munich Newsletter or the Hallo Munich app. The city authorities have also committed to providing noise forecasts in advance for the construction work to help residents plan accordingly.

The construction work will result in the closure of Lindwurmstraße from Monday, October 20, 2024, to Friday, December 19, 2024. During this time, traffic will be regulated with partial closures and rerouting to ensure safety and continuity of mobility for all users.

In recognition of the potential inconvenience caused by the construction, residents who are exposed to noise levels above the limit during night hours will be offered appropriate compensation housing. However, it should be noted that further nighttime inconveniences are to be expected due to the nature of the construction work.

It is important to note that the exact time frame for the construction could not be specified at the time of publication. For four weeks of the nine-week project, construction work will continue around the clock to expedite the process.

Residents of Munich are advised to stay informed and plan accordingly for this major construction project on Lindwurmstraße. The city authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of all residents during this period.
