In the heart of Düsseldorf, the city's annual carnival festivities took a special turn on Saturday, February 22nd. The topping-out ceremony, traditionally a significant milestone in the carnival preparations, was marked by a joint celebration due to the early federal elections making February 23rd less suitable.

The event was filled with music, traditional pea soup from Dauser, and a lively performance of the "Düsseldorf Helau" by the Prince's pair and the Hoppeditz mascot. The dance guard of the Schlossturmgarde and the Narrous Triumvirate also graced the occasion with their performances.

City Dean Frank Heidkamp, in his address, emphasized the importance of not letting laughter and joy be taken away during uncertain times. He blessed all the carnival wagons during the ceremony and spoke a short prayer for great weather on Rosenmontag, colorful diversity, community, and peaceful carnival days.

The current federal election results will be represented in two theme wagons by Jacques Tilly and his team. The parade leadership, now expanded to include an increased number of individuals responsible for the smooth running of the wagon-building hall, parade setup, and Rosenmontag events, distributed their orders to everyone present.

Dieter Müller, a long-standing figure in the carnival, was present with Jenny Krieger, the first woman to be integrated into the parade leadership of Schlossturmgarde. Müller is being groomed to pass on his leadership role to Krieger in three years, with expectations of her taking over as the leader of the wagon-building hall.

The Uzbrothers, hosts of the topping-out ceremony, invited the carnival clubs to their own event, leading to a joint celebration filled with various colourful program points. The Schlossturmgarde presented their show dance during the ceremony, and after the welcome speech by the head of the parade, Michael Faustmann, CC President Lothar Höhring reported about changes in regulations after the TÜV inspection, causing laughter among the audience.

Expectations for surprises from various theme wagons on Rosenmontag (3.3.) are high, as the city gears up for another vibrant and exciting carnival season.
