Construction of modules commenced for approximately 40 kids
The city of Marburg is taking action to provide a temporary solution for the former Goldberg daycare center in Cappel. The city council has decided to build an interim building, with construction set to begin soon.
The interim building, measuring 26 meters by 15 meters, is planned to be completed by the end of the year, provided that construction runs smoothly. The preliminary work for the interim building has already started, with earthworks and the installation of screw foundations on the agenda. A pull test has been conducted to ensure the future building's stability.
The property is large enough to accommodate both the kindergarten and the ball field. The interim building is intended as a quick alternative solution until the new building for the former Kita Goldberg is completed. Once the new building is ready for occupancy, the interim building will be dismantled and reassembled at another location.
The temporary modular building is being constructed for around 40 children from two groups of the former Kita Goldberg. Currently, these children are temporarily housed in the old town hall in Cappel and the former Kita Am Teich. However, both locations have shortcomings, making a permanent solution urgent.
The total costs for the interim building are approximately 1.7 million euros. The construction is taking place on the soccer field in Cappel, located between Reinhardswaldstraße and Burgwaldstraße. Earthworks with excavators and trucks will begin soon, creating gravel pads as a base for cornerstones. Screw foundations are expected to be installed by mid-September, to be removed after the modules are dismantled. If possible, the screw foundations will be reused when the modules are rebuilt, depending on the soil conditions of the new building site.

The new building will be a six-group daycare center to permanently meet the demand for childcare in Marburg's southern district. Once the interim building is dismantled and the new building is complete, the kindergarten and the ball field will have sufficient space.
We will keep you updated on the progress of this construction project. Stay tuned for more updates!
