Construction Minister Hubertz criticizes perceived injustice towards Saskia Esken and backs Klingbeil.
In a recent statement, Federal Minister Verena Hubertz of the Social Democrats (SPD) has expressed her views on the current state of her party and the treatment of former SPD chairwoman, Saskia Esken.
Hubertz, who serves as the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building, commended Esken for her achievements, stating that without her, the SPD would not have become Chancellor. However, she also criticised the unfair treatment Esken received and believed no one deserves such treatment.
Regarding the overall mood towards the SPD in Germany, Hubertz acknowledged that it is at a low point. She perceives the party as a ship that needs to regain relevance and tap into its potential. Hubertz emphasised the importance of having a life outside of politics and expressed her desire to help the SPD with its homework.
In defence of Vice Chancellor and SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil, Hubertz described him as anything but ruthless and stated that he has a very clear strategic vision. She believes that Klingbeil is crucial to the party's future.
Hubertz also addressed the issue of women being held to a higher standard, stating that it is a problem that needs to be addressed. She expressed the need to know Berlin beyond the government district and encouraged her fellow party members to broaden their horizons.
Despite the challenges facing the SPD, Hubertz remains optimistic and is committed to helping her party navigate through these difficult times.
