Construction issues cause town hall meeting to be pushed back
The much-anticipated New City Hall project, spearheaded by Mayor Frank Stein, is facing a delay in its completion. Originally slated for occupancy on December 1, 2025, the New City Hall will now be ready for use by mid-September 2026.
Despite the setback, Mayor Stein remains steadfast in his commitment to creating a modern, digital, and citizen-friendly administrative location. The project aims to contribute significantly to the city's perspective and development.
The delay, however, is due to unforeseen construction challenges during the renovation. These issues, coupled with coordination and handoffs between project partners proving more complex than anticipated, have necessitated further planning and additional construction measures by the landlord.
The city's preparations for the future occupancy, including digitization, e-file introduction, and organisational and technical equipment of the new workspace, are proceeding as planned. Progress is being made on the construction site, with preparations for new wall positions in the building recently begun.

This report aims to classify the background of the delay, explain the next steps in the project, and provide an explanation for the main cause of the delay – unforeseen developments in the project.
